American Express is tightening one of the most popular perks on its Platinum card. Beginning January 1, 2027, Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings will need a minimum two-night stay to be eligible for the $600 Lodging Credit. Right now FHR has no minimum, so a single night qualifies, which made it an easy way to use the benefit.
The credit is up to $600 per year, applied semi-annually for January through June and July through December. It applies to the Amex Platinum and The Business Platinum Card. The Hotel Collection already requires two nights, so the change brings FHR in line with it.
Amex is also renaming the benefit from the $600 Hotel Credit to the $600 Lodging Credit. The new label reflects an added option: Airbnb Luxe stays of at least two nights will also qualify. Those properties tend to be very expensive, so the addition helps only a small slice of cardholders.
Anyone who relies on one-night FHR stays to capture the credit has until the end of 2026 to do it. Amex confirmed the change on its lodging credit benefits page, according to One Mile at a Time. Cardholders should plan longer stays, or use the first-half credit while one-night bookings still work.
