Azamara’s 2028 Makeover Plan Quietly Dropped One Promised Perk

Azamara Cruises will bring its Azamara Forward renovation program to the Azamara Journey during a two-week drydock in November 2028. The ship enters the yard on November 16 and leaves on November 30, with a refresh touching dining, entertainment, staterooms, suites and public spaces.

Passengers will see a reimagined Discoveries Restaurant, a dedicated Chef’s Table experience, a new Atlas Bar, a transformed Cabaret Lounge and a complete refresh of the Sanctum Spa. The refreshed Journey is scheduled to debut on November 30, 2028, with a 12-night Greece and Egypt sailing from and returning to Athens; booking details are due in the coming weeks.

One change from earlier plans stands out. The Penthouse Deck will stay exclusive to the Azamara Quest and will not be added to the Journey, as had previously been announced. Anyone who was counting on that top-tier space for the Journey will want to take note when planning future bookings.

The Journey’s makeover is part of a rolling program. Azamara Quest gets its enhancements after a November 2026 drydock, with its first post-renovation sailing departing December 18, 2026, and upgrades for Azamara Onward are planned for 2027. CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler said the program lets Azamara refresh its ships while staying true to what guests love.
