Lufthansa has revealed where its first Airbus A350-1000 will go to work: a nonstop between Munich and Tokyo Haneda. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Munich in mid-November, flying in from Airbus’s Toulouse facility, and is scheduled to enter service on December 3, 2026.
After Tokyo, the jet is set to take on Shanghai and Singapore in the following weeks, giving the airline a trio of long-haul Asian routes to show off the new aircraft. Lufthansa has not yet laid out a wider rollout schedule beyond those first destinations.
The cabin is the selling point. Lufthansa says the A350-1000 carries 40 percent more Business and Premium Economy seats than comparable aircraft in its fleet, a nod to the premium demand airlines keep chasing on long routes. The airline has not published exact seat counts in this announcement.
Lufthansa has ordered 15 of the type, and the first 10 will join the mainline fleet based in Munich. The first airplane is nicknamed Deutschland and wears the airline’s 100th-anniversary livery, so its debut doubles as a piece of brand storytelling as well as a fleet upgrade.
