Accor is planning its first hotel in Finland: ibis Styles Helsinki Helka, a 157-room property expected to open in late 2027. The hotel will convert the former Hotel Helka, which has operated in the Finnish capital since 1928.
The building story is part of the appeal. Rather than starting from scratch, Accor is reusing an established address, and the YWCA of Finland continues to own the building. That arrangement lets the hotel company enter a new market with a recognizable, centrally located historic structure.
For travelers, the brand matters. The ibis Styles label sits in the midscale tier, which in a market like Helsinki often means more predictable pricing than boutique or luxury competitors. Accor members will be able to earn and burn points there, which adds another loyalty option in a Nordic city where chain choices have been limited.
The opening is still more than a year away, so there is no booking to make yet. But it is a useful signal that international chains continue to see Helsinki as a growing destination, and visitors may find more mainstream options in the coming years.
