A new comparison of airport-to-city journeys in Asia shows how different the arrival experience can be. In Tokyo, the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda to Hamamatsucho takes about 13 minutes for a 520 yen adult fare, while from Narita the Keisei Skyliner reaches Nippori in as little as 36 minutes for 2,580 yen.
Singapore’s Changi Airport has an MRT station serving Terminals 2 and 3, reachable via Tanah Merah or Expo. The first train toward the airport leaves Tanah Merah at 5:20 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and the last listed departure toward the airport is 11:50 p.m., while a taxi to the city takes about 30 minutes and costs S$25 to S$45.
In Bangkok, the Airport Rail Link carries travelers from Suvarnabhumi to Phaya Thai in up to 30 minutes for 15 to 45 baht, connecting to the BTS Skytrain and, at Makkasan, the MRT Blue Line. Service runs from about 5:30 a.m. to midnight.
The source cautions that this is not a controlled ranking, since each airport’s rail line ends at a different station and onward journeys differ. The best advice is to check current timetables and fares before you land, and to plan around late-night arrivals when trains may have stopped.
