Holland America Line’s Eurodam has made Carnival Corporation’s first scheduled call at Acapulco in 17 years. The stop marks a return for a Pacific Mexican port that cruise lines had largely skipped for well over a decade.
The comeback is part of a bigger Mexico story. Carnival Corporation expects more than 1,300 calls in Mexico in 2026 and about 4.6 million visitors across its brands. A second ship, Carnival Firenze, is scheduled to call at Acapulco on October 26, showing the port is getting more than a one-time visit.
For travelers, a port’s return can mean more itinerary choice on the Mexican Riviera and more competition among cruise brands for the same passengers. It can also mean crowds at popular attractions on days when several ships overlap, so planning excursions early is smart.
Acapulco has a long history as a beach destination, and local businesses are likely to welcome the extra visitors. Anyone considering a cruise that stops there should check the line’s latest port advisories and local conditions before booking, as always.
