Ryanair Will Base Eleven Planes in Sicily, With a Condition

Ryanair has unveiled a record winter 2026 programme for Sicily: 88 routes, 17 of them new, with 11 aircraft based on the island. Five will be at Catania, five at Palermo and one at Trapani-Marsala.

New Catania routes include Alicante, Dublin, Gdansk, Porto, Valencia and Warsaw, while Palermo gains Tirana, Sofia, Prague, Parma, Gdansk and Dublin. Trapani-Marsala adds Milan Malpensa and Verona. Catania to Dublin and Catania to Wroclaw do not start until March 2027, so they will not run for most of winter. Launch fares start at €24.99, excluding bags and airport charges.

Ryanair projects more than 12.5 million passengers a year, up 9 percent, which are the airline’s own estimates. It links the growth to Sicily removing its municipal departure surcharge at smaller airports from January 2026.

The bigger offer is conditional. If the surcharge relief extends to Palermo and Catania, Ryanair says it would base five more aircraft and carry three million more passengers a year. The regional government has not decided, so travelers should compare all-in prices and not book those two March routes for earlier dates.
