Holland America Line’s new Beach Club at RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, is officially open. The inauguration took place Thursday, October 22, when the Nieuw Amsterdam called at the Bahamian private island, and Cruise Critic reports the club has now received its first visitors.
A day at the club costs $125 per person. For that, guests get priority tendering, dedicated waiter service, all-inclusive alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, beach accessories and specialty food and beverage offerings. Holland America shares the island with sister brand Carnival Cruise Line.
At the opening, the ship’s captain, Eric van der Wal, and cruise director Zaid Barrera Abuassi held a celebratory toast. The report names no other ships that will use the club, so travelers should check their own itinerary and the cruise line’s shore-excursion listings to see whether it is offered on their call.
The Carnival side of the island has also been expanded recently, with a new pier for Excel-class ships and new or upgraded food, drink and amenity options. Together, the two changes make Half Moon Cay a bigger and more varied stop than it used to be.
