Qantas has quietly upgraded one of its busiest international corridors. From this week, flights QF81 and QF82 between Sydney and Singapore are operated by the Airbus A380 six days a week, replacing the A330 on most services, according to Australian aviation site 2PAXfly.
The change stacks on top of the airline’s existing QF1 and QF2 flagship, which flies Sydney–Singapore–London. Between the two services, the A380 now covers almost twice-daily flying on the Sydney–Singapore sector, giving passengers far more chances to book the double-decker aircraft on this route.
For travelers, the swap means a different aircraft and cabin layout from the A330 it replaces on most services. Anyone who has already booked should check their aircraft type in the airline’s app, since seat maps and cabin products differ between the A380 and the A330.
Singapore is also a transit point for Qantas’s Europe services. The airline has extended its Singapore detours for London and Paris into 2027, so the airport remains an important stopover for Australians heading to Europe.
