Ethiopian Airlines has started passenger flights to Nacala, on Mozambique’s northern coast, operating the route three times a week. Trade outlet BOTT reported the launch on its November 2 news roundup.
Nacala becomes the airline’s third destination in Mozambique, after the capital Maputo and the coastal city of Beira. The service runs from the carrier’s hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, which means onward connections from across Ethiopian’s wider network are possible through a single change of plane.
The airline says it serves more than 65 destinations across Africa, and its group chief executive, Mesfin Tasew, was quoted describing the aim of connecting every corner of the continent. He called Nacala one of Mozambique’s key tourism destinations, pointing to the leisure potential of the northern coast.
The reporting does not specify the aircraft type or the exact inaugural date, so travelers should confirm schedules and fares directly with the airline before booking. For visitors, the practical change is simple: a new gateway to northern Mozambique that no longer requires routing through the south of the country.
