Summit Hotels & Resorts was scheduled to open Summit Heritage Kashinaama in Varanasi on November 1, adding an 18-room property to its Mandir Collection. The brand aims the collection at pilgrims, families and cultural travelers.
The hotel is in Bhagwanpur and is owned by Abhinav Rai. Rooms come in four categories: Superior Twin, Superior King, Luxury and Suite. The in-house restaurant serves only vegetarian Satvik food, a style associated with simple, sattvic cooking and common around the city’s temples.
A cinema-themed display of framed posters from films shot in Banaras, among them Masaan, Raanjhanaa and Gangs of Wasseypur, gives the property a local pop-culture angle. Nearby sights listed by the company include the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kaal Bhairav Temple, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Assi Ghat, Sarnath and Ramnagar Fort.
Summit director Sumit Periwal called Varanasi one of India’s most important spiritual destinations. The company runs three collections, Mandir, Offbeat and Signature, under a hospitality approach it calls The Summit Way. Rates and booking details were not part of the announcement, so check with the hotel directly.
