New Zealand’s South Island Is Getting Closer to Bali and Perth

Mountains and lake in New Zealand's South Island

Air New Zealand is adding a non-stop Christchurch-Bali service and making its Christchurch-Singapore route year-round, Asian Aviation reports, citing CEO Nikhil Ravishankar. No start dates were given in the report.

Jetstar has also made its inaugural Perth-Christchurch flight. The service is seasonal and operates three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with more than 37,000 seats over the summer. Jetstar also resumed Christchurch-Sydney.

Taken together, the moves widen the options for South Island visitors who previously had to connect through Auckland or an Australian hub. A year-round Singapore link also opens onward connections to Asia and Europe.

Since no launch date has been published for the Bali route, watch Air New Zealand’s schedule updates. The Jetstar Perth service is aimed at the southern summer, so book soon if you plan to travel then.
