Qatar Is Closing In on Three Million Visitors So Far This Year

Qatar has welcomed about 2.95 million visitors between January and October 2026, according to figures reported on November 4. October alone brought roughly 336,000 arrivals, which is 21.7 percent more than September. The report did not provide a year-over-year comparison, so it is not clear how the total stacks up against 2025.

The source mix shows how regional the country’s tourism remains. Visitors from Gulf Cooperation Council countries made up 39.9 percent of arrivals, followed by Asia and Oceania at 21.4 percent and Europe at 21.0 percent. That leaves a smaller share for the Americas, Africa and other regions.

The month-over-month jump fits the usual seasonal pattern, with cooler weather from October drawing more visitors to Doha and the desert. It also comes as the Gulf faces broader questions about demand, with a global forecast published this week projecting steep declines in Middle East arrivals this year.

Because the figures come from a single trade outlet and lack a prior-year comparison, they are best read as a snapshot rather than a verdict on the year. Official tourism statistics from Qatar’s authorities will give a fuller picture once the full-year numbers are published.
