Costa Just Locked In a Caribbean Homeport for Ten Years

Costa Cruises has signed a ten-year strategic partnership with Central Romana Corporation for fly-and-cruise holidays based in La Romana, Dominican Republic. The agreement gives Costa long-term certainty for ship calls, flights, berthing and related infrastructure, and reinforces La Romana as a Caribbean homeport for the line.

Geography is part of the appeal. The cruise port and the international airport sit a short distance apart, so guests flying in face short transfers before boarding. Costa’s Daniel Caprile said the framework lets the company coordinate ships, flights and shore services more efficiently, while Dominican Tourism Minister David Collado said such agreements support connectivity and sustainable tourism.

For the 2026-27 winter, Costa Fascinosa sails two seven-day itineraries from La Romana. The Antilles Collection visits Barbados, Saint Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis, Guadeloupe and Tortola, while Caribbean Heart calls at Catalina Island, Cabo Rojo, Samana and Turks and Caicos.

The two can be combined into a 14-day holiday. No financial terms were disclosed, but a ten-year horizon suggests Costa plans to keep building a European-oriented Caribbean program, something travelers comparing homeports beyond Florida may want to notice.
