One Building, Two Hilton Brands, and a First for the Caribbean

Colorful waterfront buildings in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Hilton has opened two hotels in one building in San Juan’s Convention District, and the company says it is the first dual-brand development it has built in the Caribbean. Caribbean Journal reports that the 257-room project combines a Homewood Suites by Hilton with 125 suites and a Hampton by Hilton with 132 rooms, both operated by PRISA Hospitality.

The Homewood Suites is the first of its brand in Puerto Rico and offers full kitchens and separate living and sleeping areas, with some suites including washers and dryers. The Hampton, the brand’s second in the San Juan area after Isla Verde, offers king or two-queen rooms with microwaves and mini fridges, plus complimentary hot breakfast and Wi-Fi.

Guests of both hotels share a rooftop pool, bar and cabanas overlooking San Juan Bay, along with a fitness center, lobby bar, terrace, a 24-hour market and more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space. The site is walkable to the Puerto Rico Convention Center and close to DISTRITO T-Mobile, and the Hampton’s daily hotel charge reportedly includes shuttles to Old San Juan, Escambrón Beach and DISTRITO T-Mobile.

Hilton describes the project as San Juan’s first newly built hotel development in more than five years, and it plans to roughly double its Puerto Rico portfolio to nearly 25 hotels. The pipeline named in the report includes a Motto in Santurce, a Tru in Condado, a Hampton in Ponce and projects in Fajardo, Dorado and Arecibo. The article does not give an exact opening date.
