Taking the train to Paris Charles de Gaulle has been unusually awkward this week. During France’s national strike on November 5, forecasts from operator RATP showed RER B service north of Gare du Nord, the section serving the airport, running at about half of normal, with the southern section at roughly two-thirds.
Separately, and not because of the strike, weekday evenings from 10:45 p.m. through November 10 bring a closure of RER B between Chatelet-Les Halles and the CDG 2-TGV and Mitry-Claye branches, with replacement buses. Anyone with a late arrival or an evening flight should plan extra time.
Other Paris lines were also affected on strike day: RER C ran about one in two trains, RER D about one in three and RER E about two in three. RER A and the Metro ran normally, and Line 14 to Orly was outside the main cuts. SNCF expected around nine in ten TGV trains to run.
The figures were forecasts rather than confirmed cancellations, and the report does not say flights were affected. Still, travelers heading to CDG in the next few days should check RER B timetables and replacement bus arrangements before leaving, or consider a taxi or the airport bus for late-night trips.
