Wynn Resorts is keeping its target date for a casino resort in the United Arab Emirates, but how it opens is now an open question. Skift reports that Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah still aims for September 2027, with a decision on the opening format expected around February.
The complication is the regional conflict. Skift describes the opening as being weighed against the ongoing U.S.-Iran war, and says the resort may end up welcoming UAE residents as its first guests rather than the international tourists the project was designed to attract. No final decision has been announced, and the date itself is described as unchanged for now.
The numbers show how much is at stake. The resort is a $5.7 billion project. Wynn holds a 40 percent stake in the joint venture and has contributed more than $1.12 billion in cash, while the venture has drawn $1.76 billion on its construction loan. A shift in the opening plan would affect how quickly that investment starts producing revenue.
For travelers, it is a reminder that major Gulf openings remain tied to the security picture. Anyone hoping to plan a trip around the debut should expect the guest profile, packages and even the date to stay fluid until Wynn finalizes its approach, and should treat any early booking offers with that uncertainty in mind.
