Alaska Airlines is planning to discontinue three nonstop routes from Portland International Airport. The affected destinations are Baltimore/Washington, St. Louis and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and according to the reporting the flights will not return in 2027.
Details are thin. The news surfaced through an aviation enthusiast’s social media post that was then picked up by travel blogs, and the available coverage does not give effective dates, frequencies or aircraft types for the routes being dropped. Alaska has also not offered specific reasons for cutting each one.
One mitigating factor is that rival Southwest Airlines is reported to be flying the Baltimore/Washington and St. Louis routes from Portland next summer, so travelers will still have nonstop options on two of the three city pairs, even if not on Alaska. Jackson Hole, a seasonal and resort-oriented market, appears to have no such replacement in the same reporting.
Airlines routinely trim and reshuffle routes as they plan the next year’s schedule, so cuts like these are not unusual. If you hold tickets on any of the affected flights, check your reservation and the airline’s notices for rebooking or refund options, and watch for an official schedule announcement that would confirm the details.
