China Is Opening a Direct Winter Door to Addis Ababa

Xiamen Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam alliance, has scheduled a new service between Xiamen in southeastern China and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the 2026/27 northern winter season. Bookings have already opened, and the airline is adding the route as its first Africa destination in this report.

The service is planned once a week using a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Flight MF807 leaves Xiamen at 17:45 and reaches Addis Ababa shortly after midnight, while the return, MF808, departs the Ethiopian capital at 15:15 and lands in Xiamen early the next morning at 06:00.

Addis Ababa is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, one of Africa’s largest carriers, which makes it a natural gateway for onward connections across the continent. A direct Chinese carrier link gives passengers from Xiamen and nearby cities a way to reach Ethiopia without changing planes in a third country, and it supports the busy trade and travel flows between China and Africa.

One caution applies: the schedule listing has an apparent typographical error in its date range, so the exact start and end dates should be confirmed with the airline before booking. Airline schedules can also change after they are loaded, and a weekly frequency leaves little flexibility if a flight is retimed.
