Hong Kong’s Wine and Dine Festival runs October 29 to November 1 at Central Harbourside and Tamar Park, with about 168,000 attendees expected, according to SafeAbroad. Congestion is likely at the Admiralty entrance and Central Pier No. 10, and at Central and Admiralty MTR stations. Visitors staying nearby should expect crowds on the waterfront in the evenings and consider walking or using less busy stations.
In Morocco, the WeCasablanca Festival runs October 29 to 31 at Place Rachidi as part of Unity Day celebrations, with free nightly concerts and expected traffic delays. Further south in the Atlantic, Cabo Verde’s Morabeza Kizomba Festival runs from October 30 to November 6 in Cidade Velha on Santiago Island. SafeAbroad notes more traffic on coastal routes between Cidade Velha, Praia and Tarrafal, and an elevated risk of theft.
In New Zealand, the Auckland Marathon is on November 1 with a 6:00 AM start. Two southbound lanes of the Harbour Bridge will close, and citywide road closures and parking bans apply. More than 17,500 participants have registered across all of this year’s races, so anyone driving across the city early on Sunday should plan alternative routes or leave the car at the hotel.
Dubai Ride follows on November 1 along Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai. Cyclist access runs from 6:15 to 8:00 AM, and motorists should expect road closures and detours. For all five events, the common advice is to check route maps in advance, book airport transfers early and allow extra time, since closures and crowds often matter more than the events themselves for visitors passing through.
