Waymo has received approval to operate at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, its sixth airport, according to Aviation Week’s weekly airport roundup. The robotaxi service began in Las Vegas in July within a 24-square-mile area.
Access will start with riders who already use Waymo in the city, and Waymo said it will be steadily granted to more riders over time. That means not every visitor stepping off a plane will be able to summon one right away.
Pickups and drop-offs will take place at designated autonomous vehicle zones outside Terminals 1 and 3. Travelers who plan to use the service should look for the signage for those zones rather than the usual rideshare areas.
No launch date or pricing was given in the roundup. If you are flying into Las Vegas soon, treat this as an option that may or may not be open to you, and keep a backup plan such as a taxi, a standard rideshare or the shuttle you would normally use.
