Copenhagen Airport Says Its Slow Security Lines Could Last Into November

Copenhagen Airport warned on October 27 that security delays could continue during busy periods over the coming weekend and the following week, possibly into early November. No end date has been announced for the temporary extra screening measures.

The airport introduced the measures after an inspection by Denmark’s Civil Aviation and Railway Authority, Trafikstyrelsen. The findings have not been disclosed, and the airport says the changes do not point to a specific external threat. Extra staff have been brought in to manage queues.

The impact has been real. Long queues on October 22 and 23 left some passengers missing boarding. SAS said it rebooked 352 passengers, while Norwegian reported about 200 passengers missing flights on October 22 and roughly 30 more the next day. Those are airline figures, not airport-wide totals.

The airport’s advice is to arrive at least two hours before Schengen flights and three hours before flights outside the Schengen Area, check flight status before leaving, and contact the airline immediately after a missed flight. Compensation is not automatic and depends on the circumstances and the applicable conditions.
