That Cruise Itinerary Email Going Around? Royal Caribbean Says It’s Fake

A fake email circulated on Reddit and social media this week claiming that Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas would skip the Bahamas on her October 26 sailing and visit Cozumel, Mexico, on October 28 because of a weather system.

Cruise Hive first reported it as a possible itinerary change before Royal Caribbean responded. The line told the outlet the email was fake and that it had sent no such notice, stating that Utopia is not scheduled to go to Mexico this week.

The ship left Port Canaveral at 4 p.m. on October 26 and still plans to call at Nassau on Tuesday and Perfect Day CocoCay on Thursday, October 29, returning to Port Canaveral on Friday, October 30.

The takeaway for cruisers is to verify changes through Royal Caribbean’s official channels rather than links or contact details in a suspicious message. Cruise Hive notes the line’s emails are often spoofed, and a fake gratuity-change letter circulated about a week earlier.
