Park Hyatt, a brand better known for urban luxury, is heading to the beach with an all-inclusive formula. Park Hyatt Riviera Maya, part of Hyatt’s AMAI collection, opens on December 3 on the Caribbean coast of Mexico between Cancún and Puerto Morelos. It is the brand’s first all-inclusive resort.
The resort is compact by all-inclusive standards: 148 rooms and suites, a 300-meter private beach and four pools. Seven restaurants and bars cover dining, and the Velara Spa & Wellness offers treatments on site.
Getting there is easy, roughly 20 minutes from Cancún airport. Opening rates are about $1,105 per night for two adults, excluding taxes, which places the property firmly in the luxury tier of a market that includes many far cheaper packages.
The debut comes as Hyatt reported a dip in all-inclusive revenue per available room in its latest quarter, with weakness in some Mexican destinations. A high-end entrant suggests the company sees room for premium products even where mass-market demand has softened. Travelers who book early should confirm exactly what the rate includes.
