A River Ship Built to Feel Like Old Indochina Is Coming to the Mekong

Boat on the Mekong River

Uniworld Boutique River Cruises has shared a first look at Mekong Mystique, a new ship debuting on the Mekong in 2028, Cruise Critic reports. It will join Mekong Jewel and expand Uniworld’s presence in Vietnam and Cambodia.

The ship was designed by Madame Diep Ngoc Le, founder of Lotus Cruises, with Indochine-style interiors. Suites have arched floor-to-ceiling windows, and the ship has a two-story sundeck, a first for the brand.

Its debut itinerary is called “Timeless Wonders of Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong” and begins in September 2028. Uniworld CEO Ellen Bettridge is quoted in the announcement. Capacity and cabin counts were not provided.

The debut is nearly two years away and no pricing was released, so this is a planning-ahead story. Travelers interested in Southeast Asia river cruising should watch Uniworld’s site for fares and booking dates.
