ROBINSON, the club-holiday brand, plans to build an adults-only resort of around 250 rooms in Somabay on Egypt’s Red Sea coast, scheduled for 2029. The new property will sit alongside the company’s existing club in the destination.
The sequence matters. After the adults-only resort opens, ROBINSON intends to refurbish the existing club, which will continue to welcome families. In effect, the brand is splitting one destination into two products aimed at different guests, rather than converting a family resort wholesale.
That strategy echoes a theme across this week’s hotel news. Operators are tailoring properties to distinct kinds of stays, from Hilton’s mix of extended-stay and midscale hotels in San Juan to a new adults-only all-inclusive in Cancún. Adults-only formats can command their own audience and avoid forcing a single resort to serve very different expectations.
The 2029 date means this is not a booking opportunity yet, and ROBINSON has not been quoted here on pricing or room categories. For travellers who like the club concept, the announcement signals more choice in Somabay several years out, including a refreshed family option once the refurbishment follows.
