Geneva has never had a nonstop flight to Latin America, and LATAM plans to change that. The airline intends to launch São Paulo Guarulhos to Geneva service in April 2027, three times a week, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The plan comes with a condition: it is subject to government approval, so the schedule is not final. If approved, the route would make Geneva the first nonstop link between the Swiss city and Latin America, and Geneva would become LATAM Brazil’s eleventh European destination.
Cargo is part of the pitch. LATAM expects to carry up to 36 tonnes a week of belly cargo from Geneva and 55 tonnes a week in the other direction, which suggests the route is aimed as much at freight and business traffic as at holidaymakers heading to or from South America.
For passengers, a direct flight would remove the connection through another European or American hub that most travelers currently need. April 2027 is still months away, and tickets will not be bookable until the airline opens sales, so anyone interested should wait for confirmation of the approval and the final timetable before making plans.
