Porter Airlines is giving Canadians more ways to leave the cold. The airline is adding four sun destinations from Ottawa and launching its first international service from Edmonton, all of it flown with 132-seat Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.
From Ottawa, flights to Aruba begin on November 7 three times a week. Montego Bay, Jamaica starts November 25 with two flights a week, followed by Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos on December 17 and Los Cabos, Mexico on December 18. Together they cover much of the typical winter-escape map.
Edmonton’s first international routes are just as notable. Puerto Vallarta began on November 3 with three weekly flights, and Phoenix followed on November 6. Los Cabos and Las Vegas, each four times a week, start on November 16, giving Edmonton travelers a range of beach and desert options without a connection.
Winter schedules tend to fill early, so travelers eyeing these routes should look at availability soon, especially around the holidays. Frequencies on several of the routes are limited to two or three flights a week, so flexibility on travel days will help. As always, check passport and entry requirements for the destination before booking.
