Qatar Airways Finally Lands in a Country No Gulf Carrier Served

City buildings and hillside neighborhoods in Caracas, Venezuela

Qatar Airways flight QR783 left Doha on Wednesday, November 4, starting a twice-weekly Doha–Bogotá–Caracas–Doha service on a Boeing 777-200LR. Air Data News reports it makes Qatar the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and gives the Middle East its first nonstop links to both Bogotá and Caracas.

The route has been a long time coming. The airline first announced it in January 2025, then set a July 22, 2026 start, and then postponed again. Air Data News also notes that earthquakes on June 24 closed Caracas’s main airport until September 1, which helps explain the slow path to launch.

For travelers, the appeal is connection rather than the Caribbean coast alone: the flights tie Colombia and Venezuela into Qatar’s Doha hub and its onward network. Reported launch-day times have the outbound leaving Doha in the morning and the return leaving Caracas late at night for a nonstop flight back to Doha.

Published schedules for the route have differed between reports, so check Qatar Airways directly before booking. Aviation Week’s weekly roundup also lists the launch alongside an expanded Latin America codeshare, a sign Qatar intends to build on the foothold rather than treat it as a one-off.
