A Yacht-Inspired Hotel Brings IHG’s Ruby Brand to France

The harbor of Marseille

Marseille now has a hotel built around a nautical theme. Ruby Lilou has opened as the first property in France for IHG’s Ruby brand, with 237 rooms located between the Old Port and the La Joliette district.

The design takes cues from yachts, which suits a port city, and the hotel has a rooftop terrace. The setting is also within walking distance of Le Panier, the old quarter famous for its narrow streets and small shops, which makes the location handy for visitors who prefer to explore on foot.

Price is the notable detail. Rates start at about $80 per night, or 25,000 IHG One Rewards points, which is low for a coastal European city with a strong tourism pull. Ruby positions itself as a lifestyle option for travelers who want style without luxury pricing.

Starting prices tend to apply to the least expensive rooms and off-peak dates, so summer weekends will likely cost more. For points collectors, the award rate gives a benchmark for comparing value against other IHG stays in southern France.
